Fall Pursuit is finally back for season 2! In this year's opener, Canyon takes a healthy doe, Blake sees a future target buck, and Scott makes his debut on a mission to relieve some browse pressure on a brassica plot. Cool evenings made for some good sits in the first week of the season. Now that we've knocked the rust off, we hope to start seeing more mature bucks in the coming weeks. On this episode, an early October cold front made for an action packed week. Dusty kicks things off with a bang. On what was meant to be an observation sit, he arrows a familiar 150" bruiser at 12 yards. Blake also got in on the action this week with his first doe of the year, while Scott ran into some bad luck on a doe hunt. On episode 3, Dusty's boy Dawson has an all-time week. Monday, the final day of the Illinois youth firearm season, he took a huge non-typical. Wednesday, he killed his first ever deer with a bow, that being a 4.5 year-old Pope and Young 9-pointer. The rest of the team battled the October lull, seeing very little activity from mature deer. The pre rut is here. On this episode, Canyon fills his second doe tag of the season and Scott continues his mission to fill his first. On episode six, Blake gets on the board with a wide-racked buck he calls "The Curl Tined 8." During the self-filmed hunt, he had tons of rut action and eventually made a great 45-yard shot on a stud buck. Nate finally gets his first chance at the big palmated 9 pointer named Palmer. This may have been the best week of the entire season for mature buck activity. With more and more does coming into to estrus, the big boys have been on their feet. Canyon had some good activity this week, though he may have been the only one to not see a mature buck. To the contrary, Blake saw several mature bucks that are seen in clips throughout the episode. On this episode of Fall Pursuit, Canyon is finally on a shooter buck. He has his best encounter of the year, with nothing more than a few limbs between him and a tag punched before gun season. When gun season does arrive though, Dusty bucks out on a giant mature buck, and Kelby gets it done as well on a hammer of an 8 point.
